DES MOINES, Iowa — It's been just over a week since the 2024 Iowa caucuses, and the Republican Party of Iowa has released its official allocation of state delegates to the Republican National Convention.
Iowa's delegates to the convention are proportionally allocated based on Iowa Caucus results, according to the Iowa GOP's bylaws.
"In situations involving fractional results, proportional delegate allocation for each candidate is rounded to the nearest whole delegate," the Iowa GOP notes.
In total, Iowa sends 40 delegates to the Republican National Convention. Here's how those delegates were allocated:
- Donald Trump: 20 delegates
- Ron DeSantis: 9 delegates
- Nikki Haley: 8 delegates
- Vivek Ramaswamy: 3 delegates
Other candidates, including Ryan Binkley, Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson, received votes in Iowa but not enough to be allocated delegates.
At the Republican National Convention, delegates "will remain bound on the first ballot to candidates even if they have dropped out of the presidential race", Iowa GOP said in a press release.
If only one candidate is placed in nomination, however, all Iowa delegates are required to support that candidate.
The 2024 Republican National Convention will take place July 15-18 in Milwaukee.
