Statehouse election results: See who has won primaries in the Iowa House, Senate

Here are the primary election results for statehouse races such as House District 28 and 34 and Senate District 16 and 22.

IOWA, USA — Iowans are voting for congressional and statehouse candidates as part of the 2024 primary elections. Those who win party nominations on Tuesday night will appear on the general election ballot on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

For those voting on Primary Election Day, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Republicans have held the "trifecta" since 2017, meaning control of the House, Senate and governor's office.

NOTE: An asterisk next to a candidate's name below indicates an incumbent

The Polk County Auditor's Office reports that with 100% of precincts reporting, Rob Johnson has won the Democratic nomination for Iowa House District 34.

This seat is open following the retirement of longtime Democratic lawmaker Ako Abdul-Samad.

"I’m truly humbled and honored by the results of tonight’s election," Johnson said in a statement. "Thank you to the voters of Iowa House District 34 for trusting me to lead. I’m also forever grateful to our team who knocked on thousands of doors, made hundreds of phone calls, sent out text messages and drove people to the polls."
