DES MOINES, Iowa — As Election Day draws near, Iowans planning to vote in-person on Nov. 5 should make sure they know when polls will close.

Local 5 will have live election results on Tuesday, Nov. 5 from the presidential race, all four of Iowa’s Congressional races, the Iowa Legislature and the balance of power in the U.S. House and Senate

When do polls close in Iowa?

Polls will open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls will close at 8 p.m. that same day.

If the polls close while you're still in line, you have the right to stay in line and vote. But you must be in line before the polls officially close; you cannot join a line after the fact.
