POLK COUNTY – The Polk County Board of Supervisors took named Helen Eddy as the new Polk County Health Department Director Tuesday morning.
Eddy will begin leadership of the Health Department in February upon the retirement of current Director, Rick Kozin.
“We are thrilled to welcome Helen to Polk County. She has 30 years of leadership success in the healthcare industry and has extensive skills and experience in organizational planning and in building relationships,” stated Polk County Board of Supervisors Chair John F. Mauro.
Eddy is a trained pharmacist whose experience includes senior executive responsibilities at Hy-Vee in leading store directors, dietitians and pharmacists. While at Hy-Vee she also was helped with the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative and served as the first Executive Director of the initiative.
Eddy holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Drake University.
“While we will certainly miss Rick’s creative thinking and leadership in the community, Helen’s vast experience in the corporate public health sector and dedication to our community’s well-being make her an ideal successor,” said Vice Chair Angela Connolly. “We are confident that she will continue to elevate Polk County as a leader in public health.”
