AMES – A semi tractor-trailer caught on fire with cars on the tractor near Ames Thursday morning, and it caused major delays in the area.
According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, a semi carrying several cars caught on fire near exit 117, shutting down parts of I-35 north around noon. Iowa State Patrol says there were DOT and fire crews on the scene for some time.
The fire has since been put out, and no one was hurt in the fire. Crews have still not determined what caused the fire.
