IOWA, USA — As the NCAA basketball season comes to an end, Local 5's Jake Brend took a look back at his top moments of the season.
Women's basketball
During their time in the NCAA Tournament, the Hawkeyes also avenged last year's loss to LSU and beat UConn in the Final Four, sending the team to the championship game.
It's no surprise that Caitlin Clark rewrote the record book this year, but potentially her most memorable moment was when she passed Kelsey Plum as the NCAA women's scoring leader... on a deep three, of course.
Audi Crooks showed up on the national stage. The Iowa State freshman scored 40 points, leading the Cyclones to a 20-point comeback over Maryland.
Drake gave up a 14-point lead to Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference championship, but Anna Miller took the title right back in a buzzer-beater ending.
This one required overtime and an eight point-comeback with under three minutes in regulation, but Iowa managed to squeak out the win and defeat Nebraska to take home a title.
Men's basketball
Iowa State didn't just beat Houston. The team played its best game of the year, defeating the Cougars by 28 points to win its fifth Big 12 Tournament in 10 years.
Drake survived a late Indiana State surge, winning another Arch Madness title and sending the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament for a second year in a row.
After trailing by 14 points, Iowa State rallied in the second half to beat BYU and cap off a perfect 18-0 season at home, the first undefeated season at Hilton in more than 20 years.
4. Iowa completes major comeback to defeat Minnesota
20 point-comebacks don't happen everyday, but it happened at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Payton Sandfort and Patrick McCaffery led the Hawkeyes to this comeback win over Minnesota.
5. Iowa State makes seven 3-pointers in eight minutes
Iowa State beat rival Kansas State at home for the second year in the row after making seven 3-point shots in just eight minutes.
