Drake to face North Dakota State in first ever FCS playoff appearance

The Drake Bulldogs won their first Pioneer Football League title since 2012 and reached the FCS playoffs for the first time in program history.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Drake football team will make its first ever appearance in the FCS playoffs against North Dakota State.

The Bulldogs defeated Butler in the regular season finale 13-9 to secure a spot in the postseason. The win capped off a perfect 8-0 record in conference play and earned them their first Pioneer Football League title since 2012.

On Sunday, Drake held a selection show to celebrate the mid-season turnaround.

"Euphoria, just what they've been through how far they've come. A lot of people don't realize that, you know, we lost eight games in a row last year. And so you know, here we are with, with pretty much the same team has continued to battle and continued to believe," head coach Todd Stepsis said.

Drake's first-round matchup against North Dakota State will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Fargodome. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. You can watch on ESPN+.
