Alex Cohen, voice of the Iowa Cubs, wins Ballpark Digest's Broadcaster of the Year

The award spans across all levels of professional baseball. Past winners include Pat Hughes of the Chicago Cubs and Melanie Newman of the Baltimore Orioles.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Cubs Director of Broadcasting Alex Cohen has been named the 2023 Broadcaster of the Year by BallparkDigest.com.

The award spans across all levels of professional baseball. Past winners include Pat Hughes of the Chicago Cubs and Melanie Newman of the Baltimore Orioles.

"It's so special," Cohen said. "You just look down that list, five years, 10 years from now. I'm honored now to be a part of it and I will be continued to be honored to be a part of it."

Cohen credits the award to his wife, friends and family and also, the Cubs fanbase.

"The fact that people here care, and the fact that Cubs fans, listen, Iowa fans, listen, it's a really special place to be and, and for me to end up here and to be able to immerse myself in the Cubs culture and the Des Moines culture, I don't think I get this award without coming here," Cohen said.

Cohen has been with the Cubs for six seasons. Before that, he moved around the world following his dream. After graduating from the University of Indiana in 2009, he's worked in New Jersey, Huntsville, Oakland, Australia, Idaho Falls and Bowling Green.
