Wells Fargo Arena to host preseason matchup between Timberwolves and 76ers, strong Iowa connection

Friday Oct. 11, fans will be able to watch NBA players returning to Iowa including Luka Garza, Josh Minott, Naz Reid and Leonard Miller.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Editor Note: The above video originally aired May 29, 2024.

NBA fans will have an opportunity to watch a preseason game without even needing to leave the Des Moines metro this fall with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers suiting up to play at the NBA G League Iowa Wolves home court at Wells Fargo Arena.

Oct. 11 will see Iowa familiars return with the likes of  Josh Minott, Naz Reid and Leonard Miller who all spent time on Iowa's G League team as well as Luka Garza, who along with suiting up for Iowa's NBA affiliate was also a high performer as an Iowa Hawkeye.

Unfortunately, Monte Morris, who many will remember as a Iowa State Cyclone, is no longer with the Timberwolves after joining the Phoenix Suns this offseason.

While the Timberwolves and all of the Iowa-connected players prepare for tipoff at 6 p.m. at Wells Fargo, the 76ers notably don't have a player with a blatant Iowa connection.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will begin their regular season on the road in Los Angeles against the Lakers Oct. 22 at 9:00 p.m. CT.
