What to know before attending a football game at a state school this season

From bag policies to where to buy a ticket, Local 5 has everything you'll need to keep in mind for game day.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Fall is officially at Iowa's doorstep, and with it comes football season.

If you plan on attending a game at any of the state schools, Local 5 has put together what you'll need to know before game time.

Iowa Hawkeyes/Kinnick Stadium

Recently, Kinnick Stadium was equipped with new walk-through metal detectors

These detectors will allow fans to not have to remove the contents in their pockets unless instructed otherwise.

Steel-toe boots and hard eyeglasses cases can set off the sensors, so it is suggested to leave items like these at home to keep entry efficient.

The stadium's clear bag policy remains in effect for the new season.

Iowa Athletics has partnered with Best Crowd Management to assist with customer service, ticket scanning, ushering and security among other things.

Notable Allowed Items:

  • Seat cushions that don't have a back support
  • Blankets
  • Factory sealed water bottles or empty refillable bottles (Limited to one per person and cannot exceed one gallon)

Items Allowed After Inspection At Gate:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC that do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
