IOWA CITY, Iowa — The number 22 will forever be associated with Caitlin Clark and the prolific career she's had. To commemorate all of her success, the Iowa House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring Feb. 22, 2024, as "Caitlin Clark Day".
House Resolution 110 was adopted unanimously by the Iowa House. The resolution describes Clark as "one of the greatest collegiate athletes of all time and a prime example of the pinnacle of Iowa sportsmanship and athleticism".
The West Des Moines native recently broke the NCAA women's basketball career scoring record and now she's closing in on the men's record set by LSU legend Pete Maravich.
Clark will likely break Maravich's record by the end of the regular season. She's only 75 points away with three games remaining before the post season begins.
The resolution notes that upon adoption, a clerk will prepare an official copy of the resolution to present to Clark, Head Coach Lisa Bluder and the rest of the team.
