Iowa women's basketball to 5-0 start in Jan Jensen era, beat Kansas 71-58

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Iowa women's basketball (5-0) won their fifth straight game this season Wednesday night, rolling to a 71-58 win over Kansas (4-1).

The game took place at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD, and marked Iowa's second win in a row over Kansas at a neutral site.

Head coach Jan Jensen remains undefeated in her first season at the helm of Iowa's program.

Out the gate, Iowa's defense stood strong holding Kansas to just four points in the first quarter.

Senior guard Lucy Olsen had her fifth-straight game as a Hawkeye with double-digit scoring and four or more assists. She finished with 16 points and six assists.

Junior forward Hannah Stuelke also joined Olsen, tying the team-leading 16 point total while picking up 10 rebounds and four assists. It marked her fifth double-double performance.

Iowa's bench remains a big scoring factor in games as well, contributing 23 points compared to Kansas's three.

The team as a whole also drastically reduced their turnover amount which shrank to seven from the 20 the team gave away to Drake on Sunday.

In the paint, Iowa has also outscored each of its opponents this year, finishing against Kansas with 34. Kansas had 18.

Next up, the Hawkeyes return to Iowa City to play Washington State Sunday at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network and the Hawkeye Radio Network.
