Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery got in on the fun of National Tight End Day with a touchdown pass — yes, a pass — to tight end Sam LaPorta.
The score put the Lions up 35-14 on the Tennessee Titans before halftime Sunday en route to a 52-14 win.
"You know I played quarterback in high school, know what I'm saying? That goes unnoticed sometimes," Montgomery said after the game.
"That was an absolute dart," Detroit quarterback Jared Goff said in his postgame presser. "That had to be a good throw, and that was an absolutely well-thrown ball."
The Lions are now 6-1 on the season, leading the NFC North and currently the best record in the NFC.
