LAS VEGAS — Super Bowl week is finally here, with plenty of local reasons for Iowans to tune in.
The Kansas City Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday. Feb. 11 (5:30 p.m. CT on CBS). The game is being played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Below is a list of in-state football connections to this weekend's games.
Kansas City Chiefs
Jack Cochrane (LB, Mount Vernon native)
- Cochrane was born in Mount Vernon and played at Mount Vernon High School before playing collegiately at South Dakota. The 6'3", 236-pound linebacker was an undrafted in free agent in 2022 but signed with the Kansas City practice squad. Most of his snaps come on special teams.
San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy (QB, Iowa State)
- Purdy is no longer Mr. Irrelevent. After a stunning rise to the starting QB job last year followed by a playoff-ending injury, the 49ers are now playing on the biggest stage in football.
George Kittle (TE, Iowa)
- Now in his seventh season, all Kittle has done is notch five Pro Bowl selections, two first-team All-Pro spots and two second-team All-Pro selections.
