Paris Olympics: Who won the women's 5000m final?

SAINT-DENIS, France — Iowa native Karissa Schweizer faced a tough test Monday in the women's 5,000-meter final in hopes of her first Olympic medal.

She finished 10th in Monday's final with a time of 14:45.57, a noticeable uptick from her qualifying time (14:59.64) and a slightly faster finals time than her Team USA teammate Elise Cranny (14:48.07). Whittni Morgan of Team USA finished 13th with a time of 14:53.57.

Beatrice Chebet of Kenya won gold, Sifan Hassan of Netherlands won silver and Nadia Battocletti of Italy took home the bronze.

Faith Kipyegon of Kenya was disqualified but was later reinstated as the silver medal winner.

Schweizer will also race in the women's 10,000m final at 1:57 p.m. CT Friday.
