Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova celebrates after defeating USA's Kayla Miracle during their women's freestyle 62kg quarterfinal wrestling match.

PARIS, France — Despite her best efforts, there was no miracle for Kayla Miracle on Friday.

The two-time World silver medalist and former Hawkeye Wrestling Club member lost to Kyrgyzstan's Aisuluu Tynybekova by tie break criteria in the women's freestyle 62kg quarterfinals.

Earlier in the day, Miracle defeated Turkey's Nesrin Bas 12-2 by technical superiority.

Hailing from Bloomington, Ind., the 28-year-old Miracle attended Campbellsville University where she was a four-time WCWA women's college national champion.

After she graduated, Miracle began training with the Hawkeye Wrestling Club in Iowa City, making her one of five women's freestyle wrestlers to train with the club at the time.

"Iowa is great. Iowa is home," Miracle told Hawk Central in 2019. "I can see the growth, and I’m excited to make it count when it needs to count.”

Miracle currently lives in Tempe, Ariz. and is a member of the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club. The 2024 Paris Games mark Miracle's second time at the Olympics.
