PARIS, France — Another Iowan has made an appearance at the Paris Olympics, but not as a competitor.

NFL Hall-of-Famer and Iowa native Kurt Warner, along with his wife Brenda, watched nephew Freddie Crittenden III compete in the men's 110-meter hurdles semifinal on Wednesday.

With family support behind him, Crittenden advanced to the final as the seventh of eight qualifiers with a time of 13.23 seconds.

In a post to X, Warner said this was his first time at the Olympics.

"I’m living my dream of competing in the Olympics through him," he said.

After seeing Crittenden qualify for the finals, Warner reacted on X quite simply: "YEESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"

Brenda was also excited for her nephew.

"What a dream and accomplishment for Freddie," she wrote on X. "Kurt is giddy with excitement living through Freddie as an Olympic athlete."

Crittenden made his Olympic debut on Sunday, Aug. 4 and came to the 2024 Olympics as the second-fastest hurdler in the world. While rehabbing from a minor injury, he purposely jogged his preliminary heat since he was guaranteed another chance to advance in the repechage round.

At the U.S. Olympic Trials, he ran a personal best 12.93 seconds, finishing in second place just 0.07 seconds behind winner Grant Holloway.

The men's 110-meter final is Thursday, Aug. 8 at 2:45 p.m. CT.
