SAINT-DENIS, France — Kenny Bednarek hoped to put the exclamation point on his specialty Thursday at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Despite not medaling in the 100m men's final, the 200 meters was seen as his better event.
And with a qualifying time of 20.00 seconds, second-best in the field, the Indian Hills Community College alum looked to move up on the podium following a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Other runners vying for a medal in the event included Noah Lyles and Erriyon Knighton of Team USA, Alexander Ogando of the Dominican Republic and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, who posted a semifinal-best time of 19.96 seconds.
Tebogo won gold, Bednarek won silver and Lyles won bronze.
Bednarek and Lyles are scheduled for one more event in Paris: the men's 4x100m relay.
