Clark becomes 3rd Fever player in franchise history to be named Rookie of the Month

In May, Clark averaged 17.6 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game and 6.6 assists per game.

INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark just added another award to her long list of accolades: the NCAA basketball all-time scoring leader was named WNBA Rookie of the Month on Monday.

Clark is just the third player in Fever history to be named Rookie of the Month, joining Aliyah Boston and Natalie Achonwa.

While the honor will come as no surprise to Iowa fans, let's break down Clark's first month in the WNBA, by the numbers.

In May, Clark averaged 17.6 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game and 6.6 assists per game. In addition, Clark made 46 field goals, 24 three-point field goals and 42 free throws.

With stats like those, it's obvious Clark is holding her own in the WNBA. In fact, Clark led the league in three-point field goals made, tying with WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi.

Clark also joined the ranks of Candace Parker and Sabrina Ionescu by becoming just the third player in WNBA history to nab 100+ points, 30+ rebounds and 30+ assists in her first six career games.

In bestowing the honor to Clark, the WNBA highlighted her performance on May 28 against the Los Angeles Sparks, when Clark scored more than 30 points, as well as her 20 points made in the Fever season opener.

The Fever face the Washington Mystics on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
