CONNECTICUT, USA — The Caitlin Clark Effect proved itself true again in Connecticut Tuesday night.
The former Iowa Hawkeye's regular-season WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever against the Connecticut Sun brought in 2.1 million viewers, according to ESPN.
The 2.1 million total made it the most-watched WNBA game on ESPN platforms ever and garnered the highest viewership total since May 2004, when the Sun faced off against the Phoenix Mercury.
ESPN said the game peaked at 2.3 million viewers between 7:45 p.m. and 7:59 p.m. ET.
It's another viewership record for Clark, whose stardom helped bring in a peak 24 million viewers for the Hawkeye's 2024 NCAA tournament championship matchup against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The 2024 WNBA Draft, which saw Clark picked No. 1 overall, brought in a record 2.45 million viewers — a nearly 300% growth in viewership compared to the 2023 event.
