When will CenturyLink internet be restored? Company says 'almost all services' back online

Lumen Technologies reports it has restored "the vast majority of consumer broadband services" impacted by the water pipe break, according to an update Friday.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Lumen Technologies reports it has restored "the vast majority of consumer broadband services" impacted by a water pipe break, according to a statement Thursday night. 

The update comes after CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber customers experienced widespread internet outages beginning Thursday morning. 

"Our techs are working hard to fix a service disruption, caused by a water pipe break, which is affecting landline 911, phone, and Internet service for some customers in Central and Eastern Iowa," a company representative for Lumen Technologies, the corporate name for CenturyLink, said in a statement early Thursday. "Restoring impacted services is our top priority. We’ll provide regular updates, and we appreciate your patience and understanding."

DownDetector.com showed thousands of outage reports were made throughout the day Thursday. 

On Friday, Lumen sent another statement saying "almost all services were restored" as of 12:30 p.m. 

In addition to internet outages, multiple public safety agencies around the metro reported issues with their phone lines.

When will CenturyLink be back up?

CenturyLink was still reporting an outage as of 9:20 p.m. Thursday. One Local 5 team member received a notice the outage would be resolved by Friday, May 31 at 1:30 p.m. 

Another Local 5 team member received a message from Quantum Fiber saying repairs will be completed by Friday, May 31 at 10:57 a.m.
