DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating sewer discharge running into Yeader Creek.
Des Moines city officials notified Iowa DNR of a sanitary sewer overflow near the Starbucks at SE 14th Street and East Diehl Avenue.
Yeader Creek runs from upper Easter Lake to Fleur Drive near the Des Moines International Airport.
Raw sewage reportedly made its way along East Diehl Avenue, where it entered a storm sewer which discharges into the creek.
Allied Systems of Des Moines responded to the scene for repairs and cleanup.
Iowa DNR urges "downstream users" to exercise caution and avoid the creek. At this time, there are no reports of dead fish.
