2 killed in fatal Friday night crash near Oskaloosa

The crash occurred after a vehicle hit the back of a tractor which was attempting to merge left onto the road, Iowa State Patrol says.

OSKALOOSA, Iowa — Two people are dead and two injured after a vehicle collided into a tractor Friday night in Mahaska County, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Iowa State Patrol says the driver, 43-year-old Sy Yang of Oskaloosa, was traveling eastbound on Highway 163 around 8:47 p.m. Friday. The tractor, pulling a tiller implement, was also heading eastbound on the right shoulder.

Yang's vehicle hit the back of the tractor after it started merging left onto the road.

Sy Yang and Rachel Yang, 45, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Kaylah Yang, 22, and Benjamin Yang. 18, were injured and sent to a local hospital.

The driver, Gary Lisk, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, officials say.
