Boone man dies in crash after failing to stop at intersection, Iowa State Patrol says

The driver was traveling south on Kale Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection, where his truck was struck by another vehicle.

BOONE COUNTY, Iowa — One man is dead and another is injured following a crash in Boone County Monday evening, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

ISP says 74-year-old Larry Young of Boone was driving south on Kale Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the westbound lane of 170th Street at around 7:05 p.m. Young's truck was hit by an oncoming vehicle before crashing into a power pole and some trees. 

The second car came to rest in a nearby ditch. 

Young was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to Boone County Hospital for treatment. 

Iowa State Patrol says the crash remains under investigation.
