CLIVE, Iowa — Clive police are reminding drivers to exercise extra caution in construction zones this winter following a Friday morning crash.
Police responded to a four-vehicle accident on northbound Interstate 80/35 and University Avenue just before 6 a.m. Friday.
Officers reported that a semi-truck hit the center barrier on the road, spinning into other traffic. The semi came to rest on the outside shoulder of the interstate, blocking the on-ramp from University Avenue.
Another commercial vehicle, as well as two passenger cars, were also involved in the incident. No one was injured during the crash.
“It is important to remember that this is, and will remain, an active construction zone through the winter," Clive Police Chief Mark Rehberg said in a statement. "We ask that drivers travel in the area at safe speeds, remain aware of their surroundings and take weather conditions into consideration, as we move further into the winter months."
The interstate has reopened but the ramp "is still affected," Clive PD said. There are still emergency vehicles on scene.
