Motorcyclist dies in Friday morning crash, Clive police say

The crash disrupted traffic for about two hours while investigators were on the scene.

CLIVE, Iowa — One person is dead following a crash in Clive Friday morning, police said in a press release.

Clive police responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection near Love's Travel Stop on Hickman Road shortly before 7 a.m. Friday. 

When they arrived, first responders found the driver of the motorcycle had been thrown from the bike. The motorcyclist, 26-year-old Daytin Bernal of Waukee, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No one else was injured in the crash.

Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash. The name of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending family notification. 

The crash disrupted traffic for about two hours while investigators were on the scene. As of 11:20 a.m., traffic flow has returned to normal.
