Motorcycle passenger in early Saturday morning crash has died, Des Moines police say

Police said the motorcycle was driving "at a high rate of speed."

DES MOINES, Iowa — The passenger on a motorcycle that collided with a car on 19th Street in Des Moines early Saturday morning has died, Des Moines police say. 

A motorcycle traveling northbound on 19th Street hit a vehicle getting off I-235 westbound and turning onto 19th around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said the motorcycle was driving "at a high rate of speed."

"Witness reports indicate that the car entered into the intersection on a green light," DMPD said in a release.

The motorcycle driver and passenger were both hospitalized. The passenger, identified as 35-year-old Lynz Ross, died Wednesday night, according to police.

The driver of the vehicle was treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
