"Evidence available at this time indicates the potential of another vehicle being involved and leaving the scene," DMPD said in a press release.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A motorcyclist was killed in an early Saturday morning crash on the north side of Des Moines, police said in a press release.

The Des Moines Police Department said they were called to the 1800 block of 2nd Avenue, just south of the Des Moines River, shortly after 2 a.m. Police and fire personnel arrived to find a motorcycle crashed and its adult, male driver dead.

Police identified the motorcyclist as 24-year-old Jerome Mozee.

"Evidence available at this time indicates the potential of another vehicle being involved and leaving the scene," DMPD said in the release.

This marks the 10th traffic fatality in Des Moines this year and the fifth involving a motorcycle, according to police.

2nd Avenue between Washington Avenue and Holcomb Avenue was temporarily closed but has since reopened.
