DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department announced that it is investigating the city's 12th traffic fatality of the year, and the 6th which involved a motorcycle.
Just after 11:30 p.m. Friday, DMPD responded to a call of a crash with injury at the intersection of Wright Street and East Euclid Avenue where 911 callers said a motorcycle and vehicle had collided.
The motorcyclist, 23-year-old Altoona resident Trever Ray Vinzant, was found in critical condition at the scene and was quickly transported to a local hospital.
Early investigation of the crash by DMPD says that Vinzant was driving westbound on East Euclid Avenue when an SUV began to turn to southbound Wright Street, entering the path of Vinzant.
Despite continued medical efforts, Vinzant died Saturday.
