16-year-old girl dies in single-vehicle crash Tuesday night, Iowa State Patrol says

Officials say a teenager was driving through Loomis Park when she lost control of the car and hit a tree around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

FORT DODGE, Iowa — A teenager has died and two others are injured following a single-vehicle accident in Fort Dodge Tuesday night, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. 

Officials say 16-year-old Leah Claire Lynch of Fort Dodge was driving through Loomis Park when she lost control of the car and hit a tree around 11 p.m. Tuesday. 

Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, both 16-year-old girls, were injured in the accident. 

One of the injured girls was treated and released at the scene. The second injured teen was airlifted to a local hospital. 

The crash remains under investigation.
