HAMILTON COUNTY, Iowa — A man is dead and two others are injured following an early Wednesday morning crash in Hamilton County Friday, Iowa State Patrol reported.
At close to 6:30 a.m., 27-year-old Cole Lantz of Williams, Iowa was driving northbound on Highway 69 in Hamilton County and attempted to pass another vehicle in the southbound lane.
While attempting to pass, Lantz collided head-on with a vehicle driven by a 51-year-old Postville resident who was traveling in the southbound lane. Both cars came to rest in the roadway, officials say.
After attempting to swerve around the crash, a third car in the southbound lane, driven by a 28-year-old Bellmond resident, hit the first southbound vehicle.
Lantz was reported dead at the scene while the other two drivers were injured and transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
