Fatal crash on Highway 169 caused by icy road conditions, Iowa State Patrol says

54-year-old Coi Quang Nguyen was driving south on Highway 169 in Webster County when he lost control of his SUV and slid sideways into a semi-truck.

WEBSTER COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead after an SUV lost control on Highway 169 Tuesday morning and collided with a semi-truck, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

54-year-old Coi Quang Nguyen of Fort Dodge was driving south on Highway 169 in Webster County when he lost control of his SUV and slid sideways into a semi-truck around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday. 

A crash report states the semi hit the passenger side of Nguyen's vehicle. Iowa State Patrol believes Nguyen lost control due to icy road conditions.

Both the SUV and the semi ended up on the east side of the road. 

Nguyen died of his injuries. The drive of the semi was injured and taken to a local hospital.
