DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police announced a crash on I-235 Thursday evening shortly after 5 p.m. that injured one person and closed one westbound lane near 56th Street.
The outside shoulder near 56th Street exit was also closed to let first responders work on the crash.
DMPD said that the backup in traffic has reached 42nd Street.
Des Moines Fire Department is also on scene.
DMPD asked drivers to stay alert and expect delays.
According to Iowa DOT 511, the roadway has been reopened.
