1 dead, 3 injured following single-vehicle crash in Marion County, Iowa State Patrol says

The victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to a crash report.

MELCHER-DALLAS, Iowa — One person is dead and three are injured following a single-vehicle crash in Melcher-Dallas on Tuesday, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

A car was driving south on Highway S45 around a set of "S"-curves around 5:15 p.m. on the Fourth of July. 

After going around the first curve, the driver failed to navigate a left-hand curve and went off the road. 

The car traveled into the ditch before vaulting over a driveway and striking a tree. 

A backseat passenger, 34-year-old Whitney Brown of What Cheer, died of her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver and the other two passengers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
