1 dead, 1 injured after crash on I-80 Sunday, Iowa State Patrol says

A car was traveling east on I-80 near the 133 mile marker when it rear-ended a semi-tractor around 1:38 a.m. Sunday.

POLK COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead and another is injured following a crash on eastbound Interstate 80 on Sunday, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. 

A car was traveling east on I-80 near the 133 mile marker when it rear-ended a semi-tractor around 1:38 a.m. Sunday. The car flipped onto its top and slid to rest in the center lane. 

The driver of the car was injured and transported to a local hospital. A passenger in the car, 40-year-old Kimberly Louise Barnhart of Pleasant Hill, died in the crash. 

The driver of the semi-tractor reported no injuries.
