MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — A Winterset woman has died after being pinned underneath a trailer, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Officials responded to a report of a woman pinned under a trailer on Woodland Avenue in rural Madison County, between Truro and St. Charles, around 9:30 a.m. Monday.
When they arrived, first responders found the woman still pinned under the trailer. The woman, 71-year-old Patty Akers, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told first responders Akers "exited her truck to address a trailer issue," the sheriff's office wrote. Akers was standing at the rear of the trailer when the truck began to roll backward, pinning her underneath the trailer.
