Fatal accident in Poweshiek County likely caused by icy roads, Iowa State Patrol says

The driver lost control of the pick-up truck due to icy road conditions, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead and another is injured following a single-vehicle crash in Poweshiek County Friday morning, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report

A pick-up truck was traveling north on Highway 146 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on an "icy roadway" around 6:40 a.m. Friday.

The truck went into a ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its roof. 

31-year-old Cody Roberts of New Sharon died as a result of the crash. The driver of the truck, a 30-year-old Oskaloosa man, was injured. The injured driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
