Eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Altoona near 38th Street were completely blocked following a semi rollover crash Wednesday afternoon, according to Iowa DOT 511.
By 6:30 p.m., Iowa 511 listed the roadway as reopened following crash cleanup, although still with slowed traffic.
Iowa State Patrol said the cause of the accident is unknown, but that it involved a collision between the semi and another vehicle around 4 p.m.
Authorities said serious injuries are being reported, but the number of affected individuals is unknown at this time.
Delays were estimated to be around 30 minutes in the eastbound lanes and about five in the westbound lanes, 511 said on its website.
The site said ramps from I-35 S to I-80 E and I-235 E to I-80 E were closed to thru traffic.
