Iowa State Patrol: Storm Lake man killed in Tuesday night crash in Buena Vista County

Iowa State Patrol says the man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

BUENA VISTA COUNTY, Iowa — A Storm Lake man is dead following a crash involving multiple semi-trucks in Buena Vista County on Tuesday night, an Iowa State Patrol crash report says.

63-year-old Humberto Aladro-Valdes of Storm Lake was driving a semi-truck south near US 71 and Iowa 7/C-65 in Buena Vista County just before 8 p.m. Tuesday when he failed to stop at an intersection.

Aladro-Valdes' vehicle hit another semi-truck when it entered the intersection. The struck vehicle then continued north, and its trailer side-swept a third semi-truck.

Aladro-Valdes, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected from his vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene.

The two other drivers were not injured in the accident.
