Wrong-way driver dies after Ames crash late Thursday night

A woman was also injured in the collision, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

AMES, Iowa — One man has died after a head-on collision in Ames late Thursday night, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

67-year-old John Husted Berg, of Ames, was traveling the wrong way on 13th Street when he struck 28-year-old Kari Rachelle Storjohann's vehicle around midnight.

Berg, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died. 

Storjohann was injured in the collision, and was transported to the same hospital.
