DES MOINES, Iowa — Accumulating snow brought winter back to the Des Moines metro and central Iowa overnight.
Roughly 2-3" of snow is making most surfaces, including roads, slick for the morning commute.
The Local 5 weather team forecasts the snow will taper off by mid-morning, but cold temperatures and cloud cover will remain - with lows in the 0s and 10s possible for Friday night.
Elevated winds will continue all day on Saturday, but sunny skies should actually help us get to the mid and upper 30s by Saturday morning, allowing some of that snow to melt.
