The Tin Pig Tavern is still without a roof since a powerful derecho hit on Aug. 10.
Owner and operator David Sheffer told Local 5 that his dad's car was on the side of the building when the storm rolled through.
"Dad and I were over by the side door watching his car and that thing was moving like crazy and then it sounded like a bomb went off," Sheffer said.
The team called insurance to make sure they had everything in order, and Sheffer hasn't given up on reopening.
"The community has been unreal ... it's amazing," Sheffer said. "I'm looking forward to it, having things done. But a lot of work to get there ... nce it's there, it'll be nice."
