Rainfall totals in central Iowa: Des Moines sets single-day record for Oct. 30

DES MOINES, Iowa — If Beggars’ Night had to get postponed, at least the rain totals were worth it! Widespread 1-2” totals fell in central Iowa with Des Moines seeing a single day record of 1.76”. The previous record was 1.72” set in 1974.

And as the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. An additional 1-3” of rain is possible with off and on rain expected from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
