Here are the cities that received the highest amount of rain overnight as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.

DES MOINES, Iowa — It's been a rainy start to the week in central Iowa. 

Several rounds of storms swept over the Hawkeye State Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The storms produced heavy rain and even some hail measuring 1" in diameter.

Here are the cities that received the highest amount of rain overnight, as of 9 a.m.: 

  • Pella: 6.30”
  • Des Moines: 4.50”
  • Prairie City: 4.43”
  • Minburn: 3.50”
  • Blakesburg: 3.38”
  • Hartford: 3.32”
  • Eldon: 3.25”
  • Floris: 3.11”

The stormy weather isn't behind us yet: The Local 5 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert for Wednesday due to high temperatures and impending thunderstorms. 

Severe weather and locally heavy rains will be possible, with storms likely to pass through central Iowa between 7 p.m. and midnight.
