DES MOINES, Iowa — Heavy, wet snow fell across much of Iowa Wednesday night through Thursday morning, bringing the most significant accumulation since a blizzard affected the region just before Christmas 2022.

The highest snow totals were reported in northern and northwestern Iowa, where a Winter Storm Warning was in effect. Farther to the south, a blend of rain, sleet and freezing rain kept snowfall totals on the lower side.

Areas closest to the Missouri border received little to no snow accumulation because temperatures were too warm just above the surface there.
