Rock Valley police locate body of missing man who died in recent flooding

This is the first flood-related fatality in Rock Valley this year.

ROCK VALLEY, Iowa — A man has died as a result of significant flooding in Rock Valley, police told Local 5.

52-year-old Kyle Kreykes was found in his home on Monday and pronounced dead at the scene. Kreykes appeared to have been trapped in his basement after floodwaters collapsed a portion of his house, Rock Valley police said.

Kreykes had previously been reported missing to local authorities. Police say Kreykes' basement was filled with water, meaning officials had to pump water out of the home before they could locate his body.

This is the first flood-related fatality in Rock Valley this year. Earlier this week, however, a man died in Clay County after attempting to cross floodwaters in his pick-up truck.
