Disaster proclamation issued for Monroe, Linn and Wapello counties following severe weather damages

Gov. Kim Reynolds made the announcement Monday afternoon. Residents in these counties will be able to access grant programs and others for assistance.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation Monday for three counties in response to severe weather from last Thursday and beyond.

Iowans from Linn, Monroe and Wapello counties will now have access to the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Management Program to help with their recovery following the severe weather.

The proclamation also allows state resources to be sent to these counties to help with response and recovery.

The grant program will provide grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200% below the federal poverty level for a family of three. Grants can help with home or car repairs, replacing clothing or food and temporary housing expenses.

Original receipts are required for those wanting reimbursement for actual expenses related to storm recovery.

You can apply for assistance by clicking/tapping this link. Applicants have 45 days from the date of the proclamation to submit a claim.

The Disaster Case Management Program provides disaster case managers to work with clients to make a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice and referral to obtain a service or resource.

There are no income eligibility requirements for this program. However, it closes 180 days from the date of Reynolds' proclamation. More information can be found by contacting your local community action association or by clicking/tapping this link
