LEON, Iowa — Southern Iowa has been the hotbed for mid-April snow and, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, means the town square in Leon is pretty quiet.
One local business says they're really feeling the effect.
"People don't want to get out about during the snow. And we had we've had to close early because you know ... we're not making the money to stay open," said Tiana Black, who works at the Main Street Brick House. "You know, we're getting through it ... we're like a team here so we can make it through anything if we do it together. We have a great community and they're really helping us and that's a great part of what Leon is."
