Silo made straight A's at the National Academy for Good Boys, earning a Bachelor's in Barketing with a focus in paw-fessional handshakes. Well... not really, but he could have! Silo knows all the tricks of the trade, including sit, stay, down and bed. But don't be fooled by his suave appearance, Silo is a gentle dog at heart. He's looking for a best friend to help him build confidence and provide plenty of snuggles.
"He's a nice blend of likes to go out for adventures and watch tv with you," explains Kathryn Vry, Animal Behavior & Enrichment Specialist at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
Whether with like-minded dogs or the household cat, Silo is ready to break out of his shell to make new friends. He'll do best with a patient, calm family. Just be sure to bribe him with plenty of car rides. Silo can't resist sticking his head out the window and letting his tongue flap in the wind!
Silo just might be a candidate for the ARL's TheraPets program. TheraPets visit facilities across Central Iowa, including schools, nursing homes and hospitals, bringing joy to others. Luckily, any pet with the right temperament can join.
"It doesn't have to be a dog," smiles Vry. "We have a therapigeon and we've even had theraducks!"

It may not be Silo's cup of tea, but outgoing pups can enjoy a night out with their humans at Dog Days of Summer, hosted by the Iowa Cubs.
