"She's just a bundle of energy!" Cutie pie Anita is available for adoption at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa

Give a homeless pet a home this holiday season during the Cutie Pie adoption event or sponsor-a-pet to receive a special ARL stuffed animal!

"She's a bundle of energy!" laughed Iowa Live host, Lou Sipolt Jr., upon meeting today's animal guest.

Truer words have never been spoken about Anita. This confident one year old pup is passionate about two things: toys and new friends! But, have no fear, unlike many of her rambunctious counterparts, Anita has excellent manners. She will sit to ask for a treat or toy, walks well on a leash and returns to your side when called. In fact, Anita is so polite, she actually brings the tennis ball back to you when playing fetch!

Anita will do well with an active family willing to nurture her busy mind. She's ready to rise to any challenge, making her an excellent candidate for advanced training classes. However, Anita can be a bit awkward with young children and other pets. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) recommends a mature home and dog introduction.

It's the perfect time to give the gift of a home this holiday season. Adoption fees for dogs and cats 6+ months old are just $45 during the Cutie Pies Adoption Event. And that includes Anita! All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. This promotion is available through Wednesday at every ARL location.

Need a white elephant gift that will make all your friends jealous? Look no further! For a limited time, you can Sponsor A Pet at the ARL. For $15, you not only provide care for an animal for a day, you'll also receive a stuffed animal of your choice. As further proof of your generosity, you get a sponsorship certificate and picture card to hang up.

The ARL also shared tips to help keep your furry friends safe this Thanksgiving:

  1. Keep the table scraps to a minimum
  2. Pass on the wishbone
  3. Offer a safe space
  4. Watch your exits
